What we collect
We do not run reader accounts or a newsletter signup on these sites at present. We still process a small amount of personal data in the ordinary running of a website:
- Server logs. The hosting platform (Ripe Hosts / InterWorx) records IP address, date and time, browser type, referring page and the files requested. This is needed to operate and secure the site.
- Emails you send us. If you write to contact@libertyluxradio.com we process your email address and the content of the message so we can reply.
- Corrections and complaints. If you ask us to correct a story we keep enough of that correspondence to deal with the request.
- Essential cookies. See the cookie notice.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use advertising networks. If we later add web analytics, that will only run after you opt in, and this notice will be updated.
Legal bases
- Legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)): running a secure public website, keeping server logs for a short period, publishing journalism.
- Contract / steps to answer you (Article 6(1)(b)): answering an email you send us.
- Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)): keeping records where the law requires it, including defamation and data-protection complaints.
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a) and PECR): any non-essential cookie or optional analytics, if we add them.
How long we keep it
- Server logs: as retained by the host, typically up to 90 days unless needed for a security investigation.
- Editorial emails and correction requests: up to 12 months after the matter is closed, longer if a legal claim is reasonably in view.
Who we share data with
Hosting is provided by Ripe Hosts. Email is delivered through that host. We do not pass reader data to other publishers. Wikimedia Commons images are loaded from Wikimedia servers when a page includes one; that is a request from your browser to Wikimedia, not a list we send them.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Write to contact@libertyluxradio.com or to the postal address above. We aim to reply within 28 days.
Children
These sites are general news sites. We do not knowingly collect data from children for marketing.
